I would like to thank all my readers who have made many small but important donations to help Deepana. The current total we are aiming for to Pay for her 3 year State Nursing course is 4,000€. Please donate something even if it’s just 5 Euros/6 USD. It all helps. Thank you, g.
NURBS Modelling Audi A5 Rear Apron
Make sure that you have perfect curve combs in the Top view.
Here my students lower crv is perfect whilst the top crv has an inflection.
Wobble in the highlight
Built with the Square tool
She later detached the surface
Just deg. 3
Amazingly a 3 deg sq. surf has the flexibility to build around the sweeping curve of the apron. You can see that she needed 8 spans to get G1
Zebra Stripes
Remember to check every surface with the Zebra tool. Here we can see that the surface is smooth internally, but the highlights a meandering. This only partial due to the inflexion. Probably an extra crv at the corner would have helped, but this would have been much harder to model
This surface is fine
at the Styling stage, as it’s underneath the vehicle, but for major surfs, such a highlight problem would have to be corrected
Finished job Impressive
Her detailing made the finished model look really impressive.
So to sum up
Perfect crvs to start with
Try to make sure that the 2 end crvs have a similar character
You can build it with just 1 deg 3,3,8,1 square surf
Consider using this as a transitional surf and then detaching it to create several smaller single span surfs. (for a lighter model)
Evaluate your surfs with the Zebra
Cheers,
graham
